Effect of aquatic exercise on mental health, functional autonomy, and oxidative dysfunction in hypertensive adults 💦

Aquatic exercise is an effective non-pharmacological therapy for prevention and control of hypertension. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of aquatic exercise on mental health, functional autonomy, and oxidative dysfunction in hypertensive adults.🤓 29 adults were included in the study, and were randomly grouped as hypertensive and non-hypertensive. Both groups underwent low-intensity aquatic exercise program for 12 weeks, and both groups showed similar measurements at the end of 12 weeks. In conclusion, the study suggests that low-intensity aquatic exercise program improved anxiety, functional autonomy, and oxidative dysfunction in hypertensive adults.😃 https://www.tandfonline.com

Aquatic Exercises: Lower Body Stretches 💦

Exercising in water allows you to have less stress on your joints. When you exercise in water that comes up to your neck, your joints are only supporting about 10 percent of your body weight.🤓
Do the exercises with your spine in neutral position. Find this by standing with your feet about shoulder width apart. Stand with your knees slightly bent and your weight evenly distributed. Tighten your stomach muscles and you should feel balanced. Keep your stomach muscles tightened during all the exercises.
Make sure to breath and never hold your breath when you exercise. Each of these exercises are done with you standing in shoulder high water, unless otherwise directed by your therapist.☝️
These exercises will stretch your joints and strengthen your muscles in your lower back, buttocks, hips and legs.
